The 8th Annual Englewood Jazz Festival

On Saturday, September 8, 2007, from 1:00 PM to 6 PM, an exciting mix of young and

legendary internationally acclaimed musicians will join forces at Hamilton Park 513 W.

72nd St., for a free day of music and fun to celebrate the living legacy of Jazz in

Englewood and Chicago's south side. The festival will also include community arts, food

and craft vendors.

In case of rain the festivities will take place inside the field house.

ERNEST DAWKINS’ CHICAGO 12 TO PREMIER “UN-TILL EMMETT TILL”WITH SPECIAL GUEST, 2008 CHICAGOAN OF THE YEAR, DEE ALEXANDER, Monday, January 28, 2008 at The New Velvet Lounge, 67 East Cermak Road.

Composer Ernest Dawkins has completed the third composition of his Chicago Trilogy of Tragedy Series in honor of the memory of Emmett Till. The Series documents the history and significant world events that happen in and of Chicagoans. Till’s death was one of the catalysts of the civil rights movement and was inspirational in the Rosa Parks case.

Previous compositions in the Series include “Misconceptions of a Delusion Shades of a Charade: Celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the Chicago Seven Trial”, and “A Black Op’ era” dedicated to Chairman Fred Hampton.

¨ The AACM Great Black Music Ensemble under the directionof Mwata Bowden continues their concert series on the first two Sundays of every month (April 6th & 13th from 6-8pm). We never know exactly who will be there, but it always features at least 12-15 musicians from among the best of the AACM including Dee Alexander, Ann Ward, Nicole Mitchell, Ed House, Edwin Daugherty, Isaiah Jackson, Art "Turk" Burton, Ed Wilkerson, Ernest Dawkins, Douglas Ewart, Tomeka Reid, Rollo Radford, Dushun Mosley, Sura Ramses, Taalib-Din Ziyad, Salik Ziyad, Dawi Williams, Lester Lashley, Soji Adebayo, and many others. And of course this is always followed at 9:30pm by our world famous Sunday Jam Session, hosted by Isaiah Spencer, all musicians are welcome to bring your axe and jam!

We never know exactly who will be there, but it always features at least 12-15 musicians from among the best of the AACM including Dee Alexander, Ann Ward, Nicole Mitchell, Ed House, Edwin Daugherty, Isaiah Jackson, Art "Turk" Burton, Ed Wilkerson, Ernest Dawkins, Douglas Ewart, Tomeka Reid, Rollo Radford, Dushun Mosley, Sura Ramses, Taalib-Din Ziyad, Salik Ziyad, Dawi Williams, Lester Lashley, Soji Adebayo, and many others.
