CHICAGO CREATIVE ARTS ONLINE NEWSLETTER - www.Chi-creates.tv.com

Welcome again to Chicago Creative Arts Online, Inc. (CCAO) the first artist owned

and operated video streaming company whose focus is online video and audio

presentation of the creative improvising artist community via internet. Its founders and

associates are artists and media specialist whose work represents the cutting-edge of

Chicago's creative arts scene.

This the second of our quarterly newsletters. We will bring you news associated with

CCAO, creative arts and it's artists. We believe that it is time for  artists to control

their own destiny. In order to attain this goal, we have established partnerships with

our artists, international and local festivals, arts organizations' and contractors. We

have also partnered with Sons d' Hiver (France), Live the Spirit Residency and the

Englewood Jazz Festival, Transition East, Dawk Publishing, the Association for the

Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), the Velvet Lounge and the African

American Arts Alliance.

Our featured CCAO Arts Organization this month is The African American Arts

Alliance. The African American Arts Alliance of Chicago is a nonprofit arts service

organization which includes theatre, dance, music, literature, visual, film and performance

art organizations and individual artists. The purpose of the African American Arts Alliance

of Chicago is to increase the development of Chicago's African American artists and arts

organizations through programs and services that provide technical, resource and artistic

assistance. It is also our purpose to perpetuate a positive image of our

membership and to enhance awareness of the strong economic and educational impact

that the activities of our membership sustains within the city of Chicago. The Alliance was

organized to promote growth and foster the development of programs which increase the

visibility, marketability and stability of African American arts organizations and artists. The

Alliance is a primary source of technical assistance and cultural education and a catalyst

for the institutions of African American arts and culture. We also exist to advocate that

multi Black Art disciplines represent and depict those themes and lifestyles which can help.

In 1973 Playwright Useni Perkins founded the Black Theatre Alliance, this

organization instilled the value of community collaboration as a means of achieving

collective success. In 1997 a group of Chicago's leading African American artists and

arts organization came together and formed a new Organization; incorporating as

The African American Arts Alliance of Chicago. This organization embraced the

history of the Black Theatre Alliance while expanding their scope to include all diverse

group of artistic mediums. The Alliance was formulated as a service organization to

address the specific needs and concerns of Chicago's African American arts

community.

The purpose of the African American Arts Alliance of Chicago is to promote the

growth and development of African American artists and arts organizations in the city

of Chicago. It is also our purpose to provide services and programs that increase the

visibility, marketability and stability of these organizations. It is also our purpose to

perpetuate a positive image of our constituents and members, to enhance awareness

of the strong cultural, social, economic and educational impact that African American

arts sustains within the city of Chicago.
