The 10th Annual Englewood Jazz Festival will take place On Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Hamilton Park 513 W 72nd. St. from 12:00 (noon) to 6:00 PM, . In case of rain, the festivities will take place inside the field house.
This years headliners are: The Houston Person Quartet featuring legendary Pianist Willie Pickens, Ernie Adams and young Lion Junius Paul Bass. The Maggie Brown Quartet. Creative Supergroup featuring Ari Brown Saxophone/Piano, Dee Alexander Vocals, Ernest Dawkins Saxophones, Junius Paul Bass, Avreeayl Ra percussion. And, Guitto Gargle, presented in part by a Partnership with Punta Giara Cultural Association of Sardinia, Italy.Our grand elder award will be presented to Houston Person. A passionate tenor saxophonist, alternately tough and tender, he is only now beginning to receive the recognition he so richly deserves as today's leading instrumentalist in the tradition Gene Ammons and Stanley Turrentine made so popular during their careers.
