The 8th Annual Englewood Jazz Festival
On Saturday, September 8, 2007, from 1:00 PM to 6 PM, an exciting mix of young and
legendary internationally acclaimed musicians will join forces at Hamilton Park 513 W.
72nd St., for a free day of music and fun to celebrate the living legacy of Jazz in
Englewood and Chicago's south side. The festival will also include community arts, food
and craft vendors.
In case of rain the festivities will take place inside the field house.
Headliners for this year include, The Justin Dillard Trio, AACM Experimental
Band, Ernest Dawkins Straight Ahead Quartet, and a special appearance by
Wendell Harrison and The Chicago Connection.
Acclaimed Saxophonist and Clarinetist Wendell Harrison is one of the Legends of the
Detroit Jazz Scene. He is a past Arts Midwest Jazz Master award winner and "He helped
to put Detroit on the map as a city that produced not only luxury automobiles but also
gifted saxophone players. Charles Latimer."
The Eighth annual Englewood Jazz festival is made possible by Dawk Publishing, the
Chicago Park District, The Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians,
Delmark Records, Chicago Creative Arts on Line, State Representative Donne Trotter,
and the Oppenheimer Family Foundation.
