Sept 8-11 New Horizons Ensemble
at Debrecen Jazz Days

The oldest jazz festival in Hungary, Debrecen Jazz Days (Debreceni Jazz Napok) was first held in 1973. Since then it has welcomed the likes of Marcus Miller Band, the Bill Frisell Band, Wayne Shorter and Lee Konitz, as well as local jazz artists and bands.

The event is arranged by the Debreceni Kulturális és Fesztiválközpont (Debrecen Cultural and Festival Centre), and details of this year's programme can be found on the centre's website as soon as they are available.

The 6h Annual Englewood Jazz Festival
On Saturday, September 17, 2005, from 1:00 PM to 6 PM, an exciting mix of young and legendary internationally acclaimed local musicians will join forces in Hamilton Park for a free day of music and fun to celebrate the living legacy of Jazz in Englewood and Chicago's south side. Located in the heart of Englewood neighborhood at 513 W. 72nd St., the Hamilton Park site will also include community food and craft vendors, and a rain location inside the field house.This years headliners are Alto Summit, featuring Legendary Saxophonist Jimmy Ellis, Ernest Dawkins, Dennis Winslett and Greg Ward.

The lineup will also include, Corey Wilke’s Abstrack Pulse, the Dennis Winslett Quartet., and Generation XXL, ( the young lions of tomorrow ).

The driving force behind the Englewood Jazz festival is founder and artistic director Ernest Dawkins. His vision is to increase awareness and appreciation for Jazz and jazz artist by developing programs that speak to the Englewood community reflecting its history and experiences.

This year’s festival is made possible by Dawk Publishing, the Chicago Park District, Cipex.(center for international performance & exhibitions), Chicago Creative Arts on Line, and the Oppenheimer Family Foundation.
